Why You Shouldn’t Flush Wet Wipes

For most people, the only time they will ever deal with a clogged drain is when it's backed up with hair. For those who are less fortunate, many other items can cause clogs in drains, including wipes. These wipes may seem like an easy way to clean yourself, but they can wreak havoc on your plumbing system if you flush them down the toilet. They don't break down as easily as toilet paper and can quickly turn into a nasty mess!

If you've ever used wet wipes before, then you know that they're great for cleaning. The problem is that sometimes those things don't go down the toilet and instead wind up clogging your drain. This can be a disaster as it will block the drain and cause other problems such as an overflow since water won't be able to pass through the clog.

Wet wipes are personal hygiene products designed to clean the human body without soap and running water. They're disposable but not biodegradable. There are two types: 1. moist flushable and 2. non-flushable (aka sani cloths). Moist ones should go into your garbage.

We don't recommend you use flushable wipes just because a company says their wipes are flushable. Too often, people use too many wipes per flush or on a given day. Over time, even the flushable wipes will clog a drain.

Make sure to dispose of wipes properly by tossing them in a trash can. We know it sounds gross, but it's the best way to not have wipes cause a significant backup.
